CNY is coming up - which means 5-day long weekend!
If you're not busy visiting family, you may be wondering what to do with all your free time. Here's a couple of how you can maximise your time off work to relax and enjoy the beauty of Hong Kong.
1. hike
Okay, I know...this isn't the most original suggestion. But what better way to enjoy the cool weather, connect with nature, and take a break from the noise of the city. Plus, great excuse to have a feast after starting your day with movement!
2. test your balance with 🛼 Roller Skating
Another not-so-secret #ToDo in Hong Kong is roller skating at @Buns2020!
I first tried roller skating in June 2022 and have fallen in love since! I've visited Buns2020 maybe five or six times - though I do hope to visit more once I move closer to Quarry Bay!
I also noticed Buns2020 recently announce a second location in Sham Shui Po, as well as a monthly membership for regulars 💃
3. spend the day at the beach
I know it's not exactly beach weather, but I had a wonderful Sunday afternoon at the beach with a bubble tea, new book, and fluffy jacket - and loved every moment.
Skip Repulse Bay and head east to Tai Mei Tuk (in Tai Po District) to visit the Tai Po Lung Mei Beach!
You can also rent a bike, paddle boat, or have an all-you-can-eat BBQ!
If you want to drink a chill bubble tea at the beach, I recommend getting it in Tai Po before heading over to Tai Mei Tuk.
4. Head to macau! ⛴
Finally, we can visit my old home #MACAU! 😍
Didn't book your CNY holiday in time? Head to Macau for a night or two to have a change of scenery and some delicious food 🤤
Must-Eat: Fernando's
*Make sure to order the Garlic Prawns, Clams, Suckling Pig, and Sangria
It's no surprise that travelling isn't ~quite~ the same anymore. BUT, good news friend!!! As of 8 Jan 2023, no PCR or additional actions are required for HK visitors (see here).
5. too far? How about staycation!
Looking for something closer to home? Why not go for a staycation with your loved one, friends, or solo! I've tried out a couple of #staycay spots throughout the last three years, here are my favourites:
For budget-friendly, food lovers: Mira, Tsim Sha Tsui
For a once in a lifetime experience: Mandarin Oriental
Will share in future blogs my #staycay experiences!
6. explore a new side of hong kong!
Why not venture out of the norm and visit a part of Hong Kong you've never visited before?
It's been a while since I've done this, but one of my favourite memories in Hong Kong was exploring the quaint town, Kam Tin. I loved walking around the town and visiting some really cute brunch places,
La Cafeteria HK - feel like you're in Europe! Bring your cutest outfit to bring a new vibe to your IG feed!
Kachimushi Restaurant Kam Tin - adorable Japanese cafe with amazing pancakes 🥺
7. Ride a random bus, see where you end up
Okay, I know what you're thinking...
But I always contemplate doing this, and I want to try it out soon. Basically, hop on a random bus number and see where it takes you.
Explore Hong Kong like never before 😂
Who knows, maybe you'll find your new favourite part of HK?
8. bottomless brunch
How about day drinking and good food? If that's the experience you're looking for, Zuma is the place to be! They may be fully booked for the CNY season, so maybe pre-book for a future weekend!
9. visit a museum or exhibition
If you haven't visited M+ yet, what are you doing?!
Go check out the latest exhibits and beautiful interior at M+. Afterwards, take a stroll around the West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade. Then, you can walk over to K11 Musea in TST to check out The Love of Couture exhibit!
10. get creative in the kitchen!
Why not spend a morning (or evening) trying out some new recipes? Some of my favourite dishes to make are,
🔥 Okonomiyaki
🔥 Caldo Verde
🔥 Pavlova
🔥 Scones
Let me know if you'd like me to share the recipes!
Perhaps host friends over for a potluck or meet each other in the park for a picnic with all your new bakes/makes!
Well, that's it!
Hope this list helps you plan for the long weekend! Take care of yourself, get some rest, and enjoy your free time! 💗
So, what are you up to this weekend?

Something adventurous! 🧗♀️
